THE CROSSROAD MINISTRIES
Grow Mercy Kids
Grow Gospel Initiatives was born as a response to the struggles of economically less privileged people in north Bangalore during covid 19 pandemic. Initially, it began small as a temporary initiative of Crossroad Church with daily supply of hot meals to children and weekly supply of grocery to a few families living in north Bangalore, Whitefield, and a specific neighborhood in New Delhi. During the pandemic season, these children were not attending schools nor were able to receive online education. Upon unofficial research, it was learnt that these children were at risk of dropped out of schools and consequently may potentially enter unorganized labor market. The supply of food and groceries eventually evolved into an evening care center where kids receive nutritious meals, tuition, exercise, and emotional care from Monday to Friday. We felt that God used the pandemic to usher us to this important initiative. What was initially unofficial and temporary eventually became organized and permanent outreach to children of our neighborhood! We decided to name this initiative “Grow Mercy Initiatives.”
Registered as a public trust in February 2021 in Bangalore, India, Grow Mercy Initiatives seeks to launch holistic child development centers throughout India for children from impoverished homes with education, after-school care, and holistic training and development. It works with four values namely, unconditional love, respectful dealing, health & nourishment, and holistic development. Though it is a public trust, it works closely with the local church “Crossroad Bangalore.” Currently, the trust has three founding members.
Centers
Presently, Grow Mercy Initiatives has three centers with 108 children: Bangalore North 48, Whitefield 30, and New Delhi 30. A new center in Punjab is getting ready to be launched in October 2022. Children age range from 4 years to 15 years. The care will be extended until they finish their higher secondary, i.e., 12th grade.
Through this holistic program, children receive the following:.
• Formal school education.
• Books and uniforms.
• One hot protein rich meal from Monday to Friday.
• After school care which includes: private tuition, moral education, and exercise.
Participant children are selected based on their economic and social situations. Preference is given to children from single parent (mother) homes.
