Psalm 23:2-4

Psalm 23:2-4

Sermon: The LORD is My Shepherd
Bible Passage: Psalm 23:2-4

I. The LORD’s fivefold Shepherd leadership to the psalmist:

1. Rich provision for physical and spiritual needs with protection from external threats
2. Care and tenderness
3. Restoration of the soul from damages and backsliding (wrong decisions)

a. The word soul ( נֶפֶשׁ†) in Hebrew refers to spirit, life, and vitality—holistic restoration of a weary soul
b. Coming back to the original place from which they deviated and departed

4. Guidance in conformity with His reputation for His reputation
5. Safety in life-threatening passage of life and comfort in sorrow and fear

II. Who can provide such an idealistic leadership to people?

1. John 10:11 “I am (I AM) the Good Shepherd”
2. Matt 11:28: “Come to me all you are weary and heavy laden, I will give you rest.”
3. Matt 11:29 Take my yoke on you and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls”
4. Matt 28:19: “Lo, I am with you always to the end of the age”

Take Away:

Give yourself to the leadership of the Good Shepherd, Jesus, and learn to follow His leadership
