(b4) Man’s desire to control 2. Why must not we be worried?

2. Why must not we be worried? (Theology)

(a) We must not be worried, because worry makes us ignore God’s role in our life (In Philippians, Paul provides four reasons why we must not be anxious)

(a1) God has started a good work in us (Philippians 1:6)
(a2) God is working in us to will and act (Philippians 2:13)
(a3) “God of peace” is with us (Philippians 4:9)
(a4) God shall supply all our needs (Philippians 4:19)

(b) Instead of being anxious, believers must make God know their needs in prayers (verse 6)

3. What is “prayer” (v.6)?

(a) Prayer is not something we inform God about what He does not know
(b) Prayer is one’s affirmation of his/her trust in God
(c) It is the opposite of “to control”

4. What is the product/result of our prayer (v.7)?

(a) “Peace of God” that protects our heart and mind

(a1) Possessive genitive or genitive of origin
(a2) “Peace of God” is not absence of problem
(a3) “Peace of God” originates from God. This is one of the important gifts of God to His people
(a4) In this passage, “Peace of God” is a state of wellbeing that keeps you stable in the midst of those things that cause us anxiety
