Sermon: Understanding God Enables an Understanding of Oneself
Bible Passage: Isaiah 6:1-8

1. All That Seem Powerful, Unshakable, And Reliable In This World Has Its End
In the year that king Uzziah died,

2. The Mortality Of Human Kingdom To Eternal And Unchanging God On The Throne.
I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on the throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple.

3. The Reality Of A Magnificent, Majestic, And Terrifying Presence Of God
I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on the throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple.
Above him were seraphim, each with six wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet and with two they were flying.
And they were calling to one another: Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.

4. Understanding God Gives Clarity To Oneself
“Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.”

5. God Makes A Provision For The Atonement Of Sin
Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7 With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.”

Now, in the New Testament the atonement of sin has been permanently fulfilled through Jesus Christ.  (Hebrews 9:11-12, 10:19-22, 12:28)

Take Away:

1. Draw near to God with an open and sincere heart, and allow him to work in your life.
2. Shift your focus from mini kings to eternal King on the throne.
