Sermon: Endurance to the finish line
Bible Passage: Hebrews 12:1-2

The writer of Hebrews encourages Christians to remain strong in their faith by looking to the ultimate example of endurance, Jesus Christ

I. Look to God’s faithfulness in the lives of those gone before us (verse 1a)

1. The cloud of witnesses are past saints who have lived by God’s faithfulness
2. They are witnesses by

a. their courageous deeds
b. their endurance of hardships

II. Look out for hindrances to following Christ (verse 1b)

1. Lay aside every weight
2. Lay aside the sin which clings so closely

III. Look to Jesus who died and rose to glory (verse 2)

1. He is the founder and perfector of our faith – His salvation is a secure salvation
2. He endured the cross, which was an instrument of shame
3. He is glorified, at the right hand of the throne of God
