Bible Passage: Ezra 3:1-7
1. Built an altar—priority for and centrality of God (verse 1-3)
2. Adherence to God’s Word (verses 2-7)
3. Renewed corporate devotion to their God (verses 3-11)
4. Gave collective priority for God’s work (verses 7-10)
5. Unity in purpose (as one-man כְּאִ֥ישׁ אֶחָ֖ד)
Lessons we learn from Ezra 3
1. Everyone has a role to play in God’s work, and no one is a bystander
2. Giving priority for God benefits priorities of believers (in other words, you take care of God’s priorities and God, in turn, takes care of your priorities
3. Seriousness of one’s commitment is seen not in just having desires or in big speeches, but when they get their hands dirty
Zerubbabel, Joshua, and the fifty thousand Jews who returned from Babylon had a mission; they started in 538 BC and completed it in 515 BC
You and I have an appointment (a mission) from our Lord Jesus (Matt 5:14 “You [the Church] are the light for the world”)
1. How can we be “the light” for the world?
2. Could we take the model of Ezra 3?
a. God and His work get priority in 2026
b. We bring in light to Bangalore, India, and the entire world
c. Worship, Scripture, Corporate gathering, God honoring giving, and Unity
d. Let’s change the consumer mindset to transformative producer
Takeaway:
Make God and His work your priority in 2026
