- Sermon By: William Subash
- Categories: Fall, Result, Redemption, and Restoration
2. They died spiritually—they were separated from God,
3. God cursed Satan for leading Adam and Eve to sin
4. Satan will be defeated by the “Seed of the woman”
2. Disobedience and the “desire” would continue in the children of Adam and Eve
3. They remain cast away from the Garden of Eden
2. Eve deviates from being an ezer “suitable companion”: Eve would desire to control Adam (verse 16)—téshuqah
3. Adam deviates from a romancer: by his muscle power, Adam would control Eve (verse 16)
4. There begins a struggle in the relationship with the obvious absence of God—no more harmony, power struggle
b. Adam is not what he was at the Garden in the presence of God cf. Gen 2:23
c. God is no more walking with them; they are hidden from the presence of God
d. Listening to Satan, coveting the prohibited, and disobedience to God resulted in a completely unpleasant depraved situation
6. Contrary to the abundance in the Garden, the ground Adam is relegated to is full of thorns and thistles
7. Instead of enjoying the fruit of the Garden, he now needs to work hard
8. Verse 20 clearly says that he is mere mortal; the immortality and divinity Satan promoted to them is a distant reality
2. Even when God was passing his judgement on Adam and Eve, He gave them a provision
3. The garment of leaves symbolized greater alienation from God
4. So, God Himself provided garments
b. This act of God is a type of something to come
C. Gal 3:26-27 For in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God through faith. 3:27 For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ
b. Sin and death were passed on to humanity by Adam’s sin
c. Adam’s one act of disobedience affected many
d. Through Adam condemnation and separation happened to all
b. Eternal life and relationship with God is passed on to those believe in Jesus (justified)
c. Jesus’ one act of obedience affects many
d. Through Jesus forgiveness and restoration happened to those who trust Jesus
4. This New Adam did not yield to the luring words of Satan (cf. Matt 4:1-10)
5. This New Adam crushed Satan’s head and will complete it soon (cf. Rom 16:20)
b. Rev 20: 1 And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain. He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended
c. Rev 20:10 And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever
1. Rev 22:1 Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb
2. Rev 22:2 down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.
3. Rev 22:3 No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him.
4. Rev 22:4 They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. There will be no more night
1. Learn biblical obedience, which is based on God Word, not on the attraction of the eyes and luring of Satan
2. If you understood the fall and result of the fall and God’s redemptive plan, invite Jesus to your life
